Illustrations

This project showcases a series of animal illustrations created entirely in Adobe Illustrator, using photographic references as a foundation for accuracy and detail. The objective was to illustrate a minimum of five animals, each representing different classifications—reptiles, mammals, and birds—demonstrating both technical skill and adaptability across various forms and textures found in nature.

The objective was to illustrate a minimum of five animals, each representing different classifications—reptiles, mammals, and birds—demonstrating both technical skill and adaptability across various forms and textures found in nature.

To begin each illustration, the Blob Brush tool was used to establish the foundational shapes and overall form of the animals. This allowed for a more organic and expressive outline before refining the finer details. For areas requiring greater precision—such as feathers, fur direction, and shadowing—the Curvature and Pen tools were employed. These tools provided the control needed to craft clean, deliberate lines and subtle variations in texture, contributing to the realism and stylistic consistency of each piece.

Color played a critical role in the visual impact of the final illustrations. All colors were carefully selected from the original reference images to ensure authenticity and to enhance the natural feel of each subject. This attention to detail in color matching helped ground the illustrations in realism while still allowing for creative interpretation through stylized vector techniques.

The entire process—from initial concept and layout to the final rendering—required an estimated 24 to 30 hours of focused work. This time was spent not only in the technical execution of each animal but also in observing, analyzing, and translating complex visual information into clean, cohesive vector art.

Through this project, I was able to deepen my proficiency with Adobe Illustrator, particularly in the use of vector tools for organic subject matter. It also provided valuable experience in balancing realism with creative stylization—skills that are essential in professional illustration and design work.
